Night's Backbone

Kali64/64

Arms of galaxies far, far away.

A few days ago there was a major power outage in the city I was vacationing at. I was able to see a starry sky free from light pollution. The Milky Way was breathtaking, and inspired me to do this generative artwork made entirely with fractals: For the stars I used a volumetric rendering of a 3D pseudokleinian fractal and the dust cloud is made with fractal noise. All inside a single fragment shader.

"The darkness will end
And a new sun will rise high
But the night's backbone will be always there
Showing us our beginning
Far away in the stellar dust
And showing us our true end"
