Ontologies

George H.K. (tallzy)200/200

A system designed to make art out of its own code.

What is the 'artful' component of generative art - is it the algorithm's form or the aesthetics of individual outputs? Ontologies brings the code out of the shadows into the foreground, nudging the viewer to consider this system's recursive existence.

Is there something vaguely mortal, or at least vulnerable, about a system 'aware' of its own inner workings (like a person contemplating their DNA code)? Our use of computers to express incomputable human inspiration and creativity suggests that we already see them as more than just tools or calculating machines. So who is the artist, and what is the art?
