Modern & Mundane

NeoMent53/128

In the modern times one works just enough to feel productive, and to escape the phenomenon that has recently introduced itself to humanity in excessive amounts - boredom.

And what do people do after work? They distract themselves. Distractions are all around us, completely pointless, completely useless, and very addictive. I'm not even going to list them, since I'm sure you can think of many by yourself. As Bertrand Russell wrote in his book <The Conquest of Happiness (1930)> - "All these devices give us illusions of meaningful engagements"

But, how does one solve the fear of boredom? Well, I actually got no clue.
And now that I think of it, do we really need to fix it?
