Ensnared

Ira Greenberg90/90

‘Ensnared’ continues an exploration in artificial life, as part of my extended Protobyte series. This piece began with a physical drawing, exploring the formal integration | intersection of organic form against a grid. Initially, I imagined the grid being a type of cage. (The original title was ‘Caged’.) As the piece developed, the grid became more of a net, and a narrative unfolded about the tension between the organism in/against the net. Interestingly, though the net ensnares the organism, through an underlying Verlet system it is what also brings it to life.
