Moonlit Mountains

Neoformix100/100

In this work I tried to depict variations of a forested mountain landscape lit by moonlight. The trees, mountains, sky, clouds, moon, stars, everything is generated 100% with code using random numbers from various distributions.

There are many features that are randomly chosen and used to guide the composition. The values for each feature are not equally probable. Some rare features are a Blue Moon (5%) and Shooting Star (15%).

Features:

Steepness: 1 -> 10 (larger values are steeper)

Big Trees: 0 -> 3 (large trees in foreground)

Tree Density: Low, Medium, High

Moon Phase: New, Waning Crescent, Waning Quarter, Full, Waxing Quarter, Waxing Crescent

Moon Size: Small, Medium, Large, Very Large

Fog Level: Low, Medium, High, Very High

Cloud Level: None, Low, Medium, High, Very High

Stars: None, Low, Medium, High, Very High

Prevailing Winds: Leftward, Neutral, Rightward

Moon Color: Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, Silver

Shooting Star: true, false

Sky Color: many
