Class 4 cellular automatons produce a combination of randomness and order. All of the class 4 rules’ patterns are more complex than their Class 3 cousins. Class 4 structures emerge, move around, and interact with one another before petering out or evolving. Whereas class 3 automatons are analogous to irrational numbers, class 4 automata behave more like living organisms.
