Swatch

WizArtOfTez3/3

My journey with line art, discovering the state space of patterns created by simple lines lined up or crossing each other, started in late 2012, with developing a multi-touch iPad drawing/creativity app called TwoToJazz. What writing generative code since early 2022 has allowed me is to draw and replicate those lines with much higher precision and control than was ever possible with my hands and multi-touch gestures.

This generative piece, with its multiple layers of crisscrossing lines, was almost a happy accident. It started as a generative checkered tablecloth in another generative piece, but when multiple such tablecloths accidentally got overlaid, more complex and intricate patterns emerged that deserved to be made into a standalone generative piece that I have called Swatch. This piece is a tribute to TwoToJazz, my original and long time playground for digital art.
