180P8 is a period-8 heavyweight sparker with high clearance. The original form, 230P8, was found by Arie Paap on January 17, 2019. Another variant, which is a double form, was found by Bullet51 the same day; this was the main variant until November 13, 2021.

In December 2020, Dongook Lee reduced the bounding box by four columns, at the cost of a higher population. On November 13, 2021, Dongook Lee reduced the population from 230 to 182 and the width from 49 to 35; Entity Valkyrie then made a minor 2-cell reduction two minutes later, making the final population 180.
